Absolutely buzzing off of the great gig I DJed with my parents’ engagement party. (Parents? Engaged? How does that work?) Well…they decided not to do a big ceremony until my Stepmom’s brother came back from NYC after working on a film. Yes, we’re all glam in this family… ha ha.
Seriously though, I’m totally pleased with how the party went, and everyone involved should be pleased.
In other news, if you need musical nourshment, my podcast is updated (http://capthollyogr.podomatic.com) the latest Cast has a bit of a VHF radio sound to it…I was adjusting to the new mic situation and was talking too close to it for basically the whole time, so my sincerest apologies…lots of great stuff in there anyway!
I have also recently decided to return to the University of South Carolina to finish my BA in Broadcast Journalism, but don’t worry, I’ll still be doing my show on http://www.ourgenerationradio.com! I’m just hoping to add a gig with WUSC FM & HD-1 Columbia to that list.
Well, I haven’t been updating my website’s blog as I should…and then I forgot my password. Go figure. You think I’d give up, but I feel it’s best to try to keep you informed on the goings on in my life–and boy, are there a lot of them!
First, picking up where I left off after the 2013 Monkees Convention, which went off without a hitch and was a totally amazing experience for me.
In the time since then, I’m pleased to announce that on June 8th, 2013, my loving father will be marrying the love of his life, Miss Candace Martin, of Charleston, SC in Folly Beach. I’m just pleased to have a real family again.
Some of you have expressed worry on that front, and I’m prepared to say that it’s going to be a long haul to gain a full understanding of what’s to come. I thank you for taking the journey with me.
That reminds me! I met so many lovely people at the Monkees Convention, and I was so sad to leave them behind. You know who you are ;). I had the strangest thing happen to me when I returned to Port Royal. I felt this incredible empty feeling. Like the whole weekend I was doing things, and I felt like somebody…and then coming home to normalcy was pretty weird to me. The Convention was like my first rock-n-roll tour of sorts, and after riding high for 3 days, to suddenly stop was as if I got the wind knocked out of me. To the three mentors of mine who assured me that the feeling was normal, and re-entry to real life was always a bitch, and that I would be fine…a big, fat, THANK YOU!!! (and hugs!)
I am fine by the way.
On the new horizons, I now have a new job with the recently re-named L&L Broadcasting! Shout out to my lovely Wanda, Dottie, Monty, Claire, Scott, Gabe & Kristen–for making commercial radio every bit as fun as I’d built up in my mind. Board operations are so much fun with this lot to play with every time I come to work. In my spare work time, I’m a pretty fair Street Teamer. 🙂
That’s about it for this update.
I’ll do better.
